Right guys it's daft question time AGAIN!

I've just replaced the oild on the 350 with the recommended (By a good Few) Valvoline 20/50.

I noticed when I tried to prefill the filter (Unipart GFE295) virtually no oil woul go in due to the anti drain device. I fitted the filter cranked for a few seconds with the lead off then tried it again with the leads on. Instant oil pressure as normal. Let her run for a little while then noticed the filter was NDY getting warm at the bottom third or so?

So the daft question is. Does this mean it's got air traped in it? If it has does it matter?

Or should unscrew the remote from the body and hinge it upside down at low level for a while to get the air out?

Funnily enough I had my last filter from the local motor factors a Framm unit which had no anti drain on it. Never had any issue always had instant oil pressure and I could prefill it.

Cheers Karl.

Karl, some air will be trapped but if oil goes in it will also pump out the other side. I did try prefilling but some air gets back in so don't see it a problem. As long as the oil pressure light goes off swiftly then no worries.

As long as the oil light goes out sharpish on startup, and the oil pressure gauge goes up, and the engine doesn't sound like a bag of nails on idle, then all should be good. Oil starvation within the engine would make the lifters sound quite loud when idling.
