Why is car on Sytner Select not Audi approved?

Apologies in advance if this is the wrong section to post this on....

There's a 2.5 year old TT with 21,000 miles on it for sale on the "Sytner Select" website.

Any ideas why this is being sold via this outlet when Sytner own themselves Audi main dealers?

Reason I ask is I am interested in the car, but it not being sold as an "approved used" car gives me less recourse if it breaks.

Looking on the Customer Charter box the warranty of 6 months and minimum tyres/pads etc is pretty transparent.

It could be down to the cost of selling an Audi Approved Used Car vs Synter Select or maybe the vehicle has missed a service and does not qualify?

Only reason is it doesn't meet the requirement for an approved used car. Could be anything really like too many miles, too many owners, non-franchised servicing or failed the history/ mechanical check. Could still be an ok buy and if under 60k miles you've got 6-months of manufacturer warranty to run anyway but worth giving it a through look over to ascertain why it's not been sold as an AUC.

Yep but I'm wondering why a £22k TT fits this bill? Seems an odd move to me, unless they know the car has issues??

Anyhow the lack of approved warranty puts me off (I think).

Anyone work for Sytner??

I looked at a very similar car a few years ago. It had been leased and the owner had had it serviced at a non-franchised dealer, as he was entitled to do. However they'd have to re service it to sell as approved used. They were transparent with me when I called. I didn't buy it in the end though!

Agreed but it could be as simple as a non-Audi stamp in the service book or something. You definitely will still have the remainder of manufacturer warranty, get a quote here to extend - https://www.audiextendedwarranty.co.uk/

That would require servicing at Audi approved centres during the extended warranty period if the car currently has a non approved garage stamp they will not quote.

Because the car will have been taken in as a P/X from another franchise (not Audi).

They will have then got underwrites from some of their Audi sites. They have not offered them the money they want.

Thus, the other franchise (not Audi) are retailing it themselves so only is a Sytner Select rather than Approved Audi which only Audi franchises can offer.

My CLS was from Sytner select. The sales person told me that it had been traded in at their Land Rover dealer. I gave the car a good going over, the history was all Mercedes stamped and so far everything has been ok.

I bought my S-Max from Sytner Select - they don't have a Ford franchise and they told me it had been traded in against a used car in their franchised network and too nice to send to the trade. It came with a 6 month warranty and the remainder of the Ford manufacturers cover (car was 2.5 years old).

I collected the car and took it to the Ford dealer the next day for a service and once over. The list of issues were as long as my arm (oil not reading on the dipstick, low coolant, front tyres on the markers, white instead of amber bulb in the indicator (clear lens), worn wiper blades etc). The Sytner site had no workshop so apparently the local Lexus dealer did the PDI - ooookkkaaay....

Sytner agreed to pay for the rectifications and touch wood, 12 months later, no issues.

Would I do it again? The experience was billy basic but painless and if you are trading in, you don't have the buggeration of a private sale, so yes.

I wouldn't get hung up about buying an AUC.

Seen too many horror stories to believe there is any value in doing so.

No I've had it on a car before with historical non-manufacturer stamps, the only requirement is after you've taken out the extended policy it must be done by Audi, where it was done previously doesn't matter

It turns out a friend is quite high up in Sytner these days, albeit in marketing, and will look into the vehicle for me today! Apparently they have been trying to improve the quality of stock through Select so it may just be a vehicle traded there that they've hung on to. Seems odd to me as the business as a whole would benefit from it going via their Audi franchise.
