Redundancy whilst on maternity advise
Discussion
My wife's situation is different due to reasons I won't go into on here but my understanding was that not keeping someone's job while on maternity is illegal?
My wife's job was handed to two others and the role was renamed but was essentially the same. She argued this and the manager who did it tried getting her relocated to another office and other roles. On further advice she opened a case against her manager and negotiated a decent severance package. As I stated there were other issues but this was the main one in her complaint.

There is some detail missing.
if everyone at that office is also being made redundant or put at risk the. fair enough. If your wife is the only one being made redundant, then that could lead to it being seen as unfair.
Provided all are treated the same then yes they can.
I don't think they would be able to end maternity pay though, I think that would be difficult.
At risk is not being made.
nothing shouls be decided now.
She will be invited to a meeting and she should raise her concerns there and have every detail explained.
There are so many things for you and your partner and the company to consider once the at risk meeting has happened and consultations start.
Take it from there.
