Latest problem

Run car for first time last week and the brake warning light is constantly illuminated and 'warning' sound on, there is no beep when the indicators are used and the radio does not work.

I have checked the brake/ clutch fluid level as per the handbook but levels seem fine, have not checked any fuses yet (radio and indicator noise) is there anything obvious I need to check ie is there a switch on the handbrake that may has stuck over the winter ( note handbrake was left off over the winter)

Could it be the handbrake, or even brake switch that is perhaps stuck?

I was thinking that there would be a switch to register whether the hand brake is on or not. Can you advise where it is located and how to get to it?

I can't (I usually let people who are more knowledgeable and capable than me work on mine..), but I am sure there are plenty of others on here who do know.

I suggest it's the floater (is that the proper english word?). As you say everything was fine before winter I think the floater is full of brake fluid and therefore sinking and activating the switch.

Can I ask what is a floater (other than possibly a float switch?) and where is it?

Clutch/Brake reservoir, in front of your pedals in the footwell - check the fluid level as it will alarm as described if your level is too low or the "float" in the reservoir has "stuck" ??

HTHs?

I meant the small plastic piece on the brake fluid cap:

Usually it's a sealed cavity so it can float on the brake fluid level. If it's leaking the brake fluid enters the cavity and it will sink down and activating the alert.
