Do we agree with last nights fifth gear that a mid 80s 911 is the best one that has ever been built .

Not best one ever built, but weighing up reliability servicing, price to buy and running costs as well.

So that knocks out the 964

Probably the cheapest and most reliable car they could give away as a prize...
The 1989 911 3.2 is a better car and in terms of ownership and running costs makes a far better proposition to a 964 all IMHO of course

I never normally agree with anything they say, ever. It's a really crappy program and I hardly ever watch it. What was it last week, Fiat Multipla? Fk off!

Did they mean the best 911 ever? It was a very good car (as all 911s), but the best ever? No. How about the 964 RS, GT3, GT3RS etc etc....there are a wealth of excellent cars out there to choose from.

For me: Mk1 996 GT3 Clubsport.

I saw that film again the other night. On the back of the car it said turbo RS. Is this different from the S?

It was Fifth Gear's greatest 911 ever as its a competition prize winner... do you think the producers would prefer to give away a £15k car or a £120k car?

They did the same with their 'Best of British' award where the winner was a £15k MINI instead of a £40k+ TVR/RangeRover etc

I'm with you, for looks as a cabrio (without being biased in any way of course ), but then I know that's not to everyone's taste, so I'm willing to go to 993TT for those who prefer tin-tops.

3.2 with G50, not in white and without the supersports spoiler would have been a better choice.

My vote is with the 993 though.

I was interested to see the comment in this month's Porsche Post saying that the Targa is the most practical all-rounder. I second that, on a 993, of course!
