Series 1 landy info

A friend and I have found a 53-58 88 inch hardtop, it's complete and original but has been sitting in a garden on blocked for well over a decade.
We are going to speak to the owner about trying to rescue the car from its current state and to do a sympathetic restoration on it.
The bulkhead looks shot to bits but the windows are intact and so are all the body panels, axels and lights.
No info yet on what engine if any is in it or gearbox.
Anyone got one or have any pointers to look for when going over it?

You watched "For The Love of Cars" this week as well then?
The bit that worries me is that you claim it's original but then ask what to look for where checking it over, and also that the engine and gearbox are unknowns - these are the two most frequently upgraded/replaced items so the chances of it being "original" are less than might be obvious.
If you know it's "original and complete" you wouldn't then need to ask what to look for.

Actually, no. I haven't seen the show yet. 
I've got pics of it, it's got the correct age doors, wings etc that I can see and also from looking at others online to compare it to.
Is there any real checks for it?
Complete and original was meant for the bodywork, it's in one piece and isn't a pile of parts dumped in a corner of a shed etc.
The axels we can see,, but it's been laid up for whatever reason.

I've got pics of it, it's got the correct age doors, wings etc that I can see and also from looking at others online to compare it to.

If the bulkhead is shot then it's a full restoration, the panels will look fine coz there ally.
The chassis on these can be surprisingly good, sometimes. For it to be original it likely
to have the 2l petrol, not so many diesels back then, my original 1958 s2 made good money
as it had never been painted.
First thing I'd do is enquire about a replacement bulkhead.
