Hi

Have got a 2.0D se V50 and had the clutch and dmf done a few months ago and ever since the airbag service light has been on, the guy who did it has said to me that it because the battery was disconnected and that he that he needs the software off volvo to turn it off, i think he might be fobbing me off cause he doesn't know how to solve it. Has anyone else come across this before, have looked through here but can't find anything on it. Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

Under normal circumstances disconnecting the battery is a sure fire way of making sure no faults occur with electronics during major works.

He is fobbing you off. My wife as a 2004 S40 T5 which has had the battery ~4 times and that has never resulted in an airbag light.

Does it need a volvo to turn the light off or could it be done by any decent garage with good software?

Thanks for the advice.

Well then rather than just resetting it he needs to cure the fault on it & it obviously is not as he says, it will be nothing to do with the battery being disconnected.

Check the wiring and connections under the drivers seat.

I've seen this happen before, car comes in for a repair unrelated to the to the airbag/srs systems but when the mechanic moves the seat to drive the car in, the movement of the wiring causes the fault to occur.

A slight resistance at one of the connections will cause the light to come on.
