Staying on the manifold issue for a little longer. I find it totally incomprehensible that they are excluded from warranty claims? How can that possibly be the case? They are warranty items in the USA and Canada, so why not here?
And what happens if your engine ingests some pre-cat or manifold debris and requires a rebuild....Who pays for that?

Tell me what happened when yours failed? Who paid and why?

Are they excluded? I have a friend with a used F430 spider that self destructed with the pre-cat issue and everything was done under warranty no quibble!

In North America they have laws requiring the warranting of emissions equipment for 8 years from the point of sale. As the manifolds have pre-cats they come under this legislation.

Over here, they are excluded from the normal extended warranties (IIRC) but if your engine eats a cat the engine is covered.

Also, sometimes Ferrari will cover the manifolds if the car has been within the dealer network all its life as a gesture of goodwill.

My car's away at the main dealer being serviced so I have been quizzing them over this issue.

I believe the manifolds were covered by warranty up to 3 years old but are certainly not covered by the power warranty.

My main dealer is aware of one instance where they warned an owner that the manifolds were not in the best of health, the owner chose to ignore it and parts of the cat did indeed end up in the engine resulting in a repair bill of over 7k. With goodwill from Ferrari and the authorised dealer that was reduced to 2.8k

They tell me mine appear to be ok but as the fault develops internally the check is done by sound rather than visually.

I must admit it's a concern but other than changing to after market manifolds I can't see a robust solution to the potential problem?

They should be smoke tested. Smoke is pumped up the tailpipe - if there is smoke in the engine bay then you have a leak.

You can DIY the test with a gas boiler flue pellet.

Mine were replaced FOC on a goodwill basis. I had purchased car the year before from main dealer with warranty.

How old was the car when you bought, who was the main dealer?

Car was a 2006 which I bought from JCT600 beginning of 2010. Manifolds replaced end of 2010 at 12k miles by Colchester Ferrari. Car had gone in for Annual Service.

Does anyone know whether fitment of Capristo et al manifolds would invalidate Power warranty?

Also following on from the other thread:

Here are the affordable headers that I found online. http://www.topspeedauto.com/index.php?route=produc... Basically, with shipping, it works out around £650 at todays money.

They claim to be made from T304 grade SS however unsure how thick it is. Welds look good as well. Lots of reviews on the www around their other products. Mixed but mostly good.

Might be an affordable solution however not sure I want to be the first person to try it and find out? Guess worst case they crack and it's £650 down the drain.

I've not seen them before (and I spend far too much time on FChat). If you decide to take the plunge do please keep us updated.

EDIT: Where's the hole for the Lambda?!

I don't see any air injection ports in these headers? Compare them to Fabspeed pics and you'll see what I mean

As far as I know, only Federal spec 360's had air injection on the headers. The F430 headers should have a hole for the lambda and a boss for the thermocouple - on the ones you linked I could only see the boss.

Good spot. I'm away to email them as already have a chain going with a few questions. They are a new product and no one has tried them yet (that they tell me or that I can find) however plenty of mixed reviews around their other headers. Mostly positive.

Will update in due course.

Don't forget 'little people pay taxes' so with VAT & duty it'll be nearer £ 800

Had to have the manifolds replaced after 7 months of ownership bought from a main dealer and it was fully sorted under warranty. Did have to wait 2 months for the car to come back though as the manifolds failed just before the factory shutdown in summer and bizarrely enough for something that is a known issue there were no inventory of spares.....

Glad you were fully sorted by the dealer; it is these inconsistencies in practice which bug me, some pay some get a contribution, some get nothing
moan over
