The past few years have flown by for myself and the misses.
I'm 28 now and getting married next year and I suppose a baby will follow at some point.
Where does time go?
Its literally been a blur as we bought a house ect and I changed job and booked our holiday its come round very fast.
Growing up has been fast and now I feel "old" at a young age haha.
Surely I'm not the only one.

Indeed not. I am 68 years old now and the grim reaper is definitely getting closer. Being a compulsive/ obsessive nutcase with a daft lifestyle to match and some five marriages gone by (I enjoyed every one!!) it is remarkable that I am still alive as my doctors regularly confirm to me and anyone else interested enough to ask. Probably more remarkable that none of the wives actually killed me although I suspect a few contemplated the process. Enjoy every minute of you life. Take and make every opportunity you can. This is not a dress rehearsal.

Occasionally I'll feel like I'm getting old; then I realise I still have at least another 30 years of working in me and I feel quite young again.

My MK2 RS makes me feel young when I drive it haha.
But life seems to be flying by. I remember school, college like it was yesterday and can remember how slow that time went.
Growing up happens so fast.

Completely agree OP, 26 here and I feel old.
I remember wishing my life away when I was younger wanting to be older, so I could, drive etc.
I kind of wish now I enjoyed my youth abit more?
But when you were a kid you basically wanted to be the age you are now, and you'll spend the rest of your life thinking 'if only I was still 26'. I remember wishing my life away when I was younger wanting to be older, so I could, drive etc.

A couple of years ago I felt I was growing old beyond my time. I was 25 (which is a silly age to feel such things), settled down with my long term GF sharing a mortgage, had a decent job but together we were only just managing to get by so did little to no socialising. And this was also part due to a large chunk of my friends just outright refusing to grow up altogether. I was lazy, grumpy and unwilling to try new stuff.
Now, I'm also 28, and engaged. Our lives have totally turned around. Getting out of the more expensive fixed period at the start of the mortgage and the rest of our petty debts out the way was good - that means we have plenty more scratch to play with each month to go out to places and do stuff (although thats all going towards the wedding now to be fair - roll on November).
But the key thing was concentrating on building relationships with the friends we had that were in the same situation as us. So rather than waste time in the same dingy cheap pubs I had been going to since I was 18 - with the same large crowd of people desperately trying to cling onto their teens and constantly pleading poverty, drinking pint after pint of Tennents or Red Stripe - we now frequent some nicer, trendy places, where everyone still has all their own teeth and it feels like we are amongst our own, yuppie kind with married friends or committed couples we know. We still have just as much fun with our more settled friends, and if anything, get even sillier on nights out. Despite what that sounds like, I'm not talking about swinging.
You'll feel old if you are trying to hang on to a previous lifestyle that no longer suits you (I have no way of knowing if that is what you are doing).
Take a look at your life, look at the folk around you and see if they are at the same points in their lives as you are. Let the ones who aren't go to some extent, and bring the ones that are closer. I refute any suggestion that getting married means your life is over. Neither you or your fiancee should willingly be entering into that. Since I got engaged I feel like mine is just starting to kick off.

Serious answer, it's to do with the %age of your lifeI'm in my mid-30s and certainly don't feel old.

People's age seems to be different too. My Grandad died at 60 and looked, to my child eyes, like an old man; a pensioner.
My dad is now the same age and looks younger for his years to me; likewise my in-laws.
