Worked on the harvesting of them when I was at a kibbutz.

They used this contraption bolted onto the back of a tractor to shake the trees and catch them in nets. Very ingenious compared to the labour intensive ways other kibbutz harvested.

We got to eat the prize Medjools fresh from coming off the tress, a marvellous food. cool

Try dates before they go all dark and gooey. They are pink, crunchy sweet and taste wonderful. Moist meditaranean shops sell them when in season. Worth searching for.
