Gearbox Mount - Changing it

Afternoon,

I've read some threads on the type of mount but I can't find any with an idiot's guide to changing it. I can't find it in the Bible either - can find mention of the type of mount either.

I'm going to order one of these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281305277335 - as it appears to be the right one (accordong to other threads.

Can the mount be changed with the box insitu? Does anyone know the bolts / nut size (I'll check the wiki after this) so I can get new ones to hand.

My thinking was;
1. Remove exhaust from hockey sticks back.
2. Lift and support gearbox on trolley jack.
3. Remove mount and fit new.
4. Drop gearbox and refit exhaust.

I'd like to do it weekend after next.

This one should be a straight swap, the one you have linked to can be made to fit (search out my old post).
Other than that fitting is as you describe, bolts are M8, four short ones and two longer ones.


On my car the main earth strap attaches to one of the short ones, don't miss it out on the re-fit or you will have "issues"

I've gone for the uprated one as the car is going to get some stick on the track.

Just done mine, virtually exactly the way you suggest. Some of the bolt heads are very close to the main chassis members meaning you have to use an open ended spanner. Central bolt was very tight and had to use an impact wrench. Mine was labeled Transit but fits perfectly. Has made a huge difference especially in reverse when I used to get a shake. Andy
