Guys
I am new to the PistonHeads forum but not new to PistonHeads.
Does anyone know of an unfinished or not started GTR kit for sale.
I am newly retired so on a budget.
Having sorted some budgets for the LS range of fuel injected engines for a build its looking scarily expensive but the car is incredible.
Any help would be appreciated.

Good luck sourcing a part built etc. I was in the same position a while back. My advice would be find the cash for a new build and do not try and do it on the cheap as you simply wont be able to. Yes they seem expensive, but for good reason, they are serious bits of kit. Go have a look at some in the flesh, you could save a fair bit on the build if you wanted SBC power and not LS, depending on your requirements.

a simple wanted ad on PH will possibly throw up what you are looking for provided you have a reasonable budget.
A lot of cars dont get finished, but very few dont even get started.

Thanks for your input.
I have placed a wanted ad over a week ago and have only had a reply form a guy in New Zealand.
Amazing who reads our local chat.

why not just buy one of the cheaper small block engined cars already registered and refurbish and replace parts as you go,working up to an Ls engine swap.
A much smaller initial hit on buying and upgrading overtime doesnt hit the wallet as bad as paying for everything up front , and you hve something t play with on the weekends.
Contrary to some peoples opinion even the worst built GTR can be refurbished... these are Kits after all.... the worst possible issue could be poor body fitm, but even then thats just cosmetics too.......

Thats an option that I am considering along with trying to find an unfinished project.
Also maybe even a second hand one that already has an LS engine but is say up to 4 years old.
Thanks again.

I wouldnt get too hung up on age, more important is the specification of parts used in the build.....there are distinct benefits to buying an older car...emissions being one...........all depends on your budget, I have an LS car that was put up for sale a short while ago , but only for about 10 days and then I decided to play with it for a while longer.... it was the cheapest road ready LS engined car in the UK, but not perfect as it was very track orientated and had been used as such....and a lot older than 4 years old! lol ...

Interesting.
Although my car will be used about 80% on the road I would like to take it to the track also.
If possible with slicks for the track.
I have been told that I need to consider rose joint suspension (with uprated wishbones) along with dry sump and a revised fuel system if I intend to use slicks.
What spec have you got for the track?

As said above, age isn't really a buying point with these cars, it's not unusual to find some Ultimas that have less than 5000 miles on them at ten years old,
Look at the build spec and "extra equipment", older cars can benefit from not needing emissions testing, just a visual for no smoke, this gives you more of a choice when speccing your engine build/replacement.

if intending to use mainly on track look for something with a PROPER dry sump system.

If using slicks....

The LS7 std semi dry system is perfectly fine with Kumhos.

What's the budget you gave in mind?

My budget is max £65k.
In that I want to update the cockpit to full leather, carpet and soundproofing along with indicator stalks, Dash 2 Pro instrumentation with rear view camera.
I know you may ask why soundproofing as you want to hear the engine etc but apart from circuit racing I have had a Radical SR3 road legal in my time (don't know why I ever sold it, big mistake, probably why I want a GTR). I know as great as the sounds are it can get a bit wearing over a few road miles and I intend to use the GTR regularly and on some long journeys.
I understand that a proper dry sump system is required i.e. not an Accusump system. I take it that a proper dry sump system (had one on my Radical for racing) will be ok with slicks with the higher corner loads.
Thanks again Guys

The green one in the classified could be a good starting point.

I'd suggest if you had a radical you'll be wanting to invest in the suspension and geometry too. Would be worth going on track in one - where are you based?

I had great fun playing with an sr3 RS at Bedford last year. Watching how late they can brake and the corner speed they carry was incredible.

I'm looking at the Kawasaki Green one on PistonHeads classifieds as a possible option.
What do you think about the price for it as a 2010 with the spec?
Just need the gear change in the middle and the upgrades already mentioned.
Handling is very important but I still have access to the race team I was with when I had the Radical so shouldn't have problems there but I think slicks are required to give me the extra handling and corner speed.
I am based in Stockport.

price is as always subjective with this type of car... you need to go and see it and judge for yourself.
