Lowered my 911

Hi All,

Did plenty of research first as I didn't want a harsh ride, however I do believe the 996 911, and in-fact most other Carrera's look much better with a subtle suspension drop.

In the end it was recommended to use Koni Sport adjustable shocks, on soft setting, along with H&R -30mm springs. I renewed all 4 coffin arms, top mounts inc bearings and fixings at the same time.

Overall I'm delighted with how it looks and drives. It's just as comfortable as the standard suspension, you'd be hard pushed to notice any difference in the ride quality. Next it's off on monday for a full Geo to GT3 settings (or as close to).

Yes I'm local to you. I'm out in Magheramason.

I'm getting the Geo done by Alan Roddy & Stephen Gault, they work out of Roddy's Country Garage in Ballymoney.

I could get it done in a tyre centre, however I'm using Alan/Stephen as they have a proven track record of setting up championship winning cars. Not that I'll be tracking my car, but simply because they know what they are doing.

Put some 15 mm spacers on front and rear and you're there

Yeah I'm looking into spacers next, just need to measure to make sure I get the right size.

Got the car back last night from having the Geo setup.

I had Steven Gault & Alan Roddy dial in the same settings as the Factory X74 suspension and I must say it's transformed the car. Really delighted overall now!

Steven Gault rebuilt and mapped my Lotus Elise engine almost a decade ago (still have it). And did the suspension. Great job and a very nice guy.

Getting my 997 turbo remapped by Torquetronix shortly. Any experience of them?

Not a 996 but changed to lowered springs after a front coil failure with the added benefit of looking much better IMHO. Handles well on the open roads, not so in towns though.
Your 996 is looking good with those few inches removed.

Steven built a 1300 Group A spec engine for a Nova of mine about 10 years ago, and he also worked a bit on the 2.0L 16v Turbo in my current Nova, great guy.

I've never used Torquetronix myself, I know loads who have but its usually just TDI engines. If I owned a 997 Turbo I'd be looking for someone who's mapped plenty before with proven success, maybe Torquetronix has?
