Bridgestone S02s

Was just 'walking' through a casino in Melbourne, name drop, last week and up on a stand was a brand new Boxster which, presumably, you could win. This is sad, I know, but I had a butchers at the wheels in some sad, my-Cerbera's-are-bigger-than-your's kind of way. Lo and behold Bridgestone S02A is printed on the side of the tyre. I never got to see if there was an 'E' mark on it as my wife dragged me away saying I was a sad to55er etc. Does anyone know if these could be suitable replacements for the old 2s?

The only reference on Google for the UK is that they are available at TopGear Tyres.

Standard fit now on F360s in the US from what I spotted though, so they can't be too bad, although I've heard that tyre compounds sometimes change between countries.

You can buy SO2's in the UK too, standard Porsche tyre. My friendly tyre fitter has no problem getting them and usually has some on the racks. Trouble is they have harder compound and stiffer sidewalls than SO2pp's. They have the traditional tread pattern but they don't have a rim bead. I have a pair on the rear of my Chimaera. They're fine there but would not work on the front.

I have to say I thought that you could not get S02s anymore in the UK although that is just based on what I have seen on threads here. I just had the car in for servicing, it needed 2 fronts and they put Toyos on. People have said differing things but they seem to have less traction than the old 2s. Will have a hunt around, thanks chaps

That's the mould slip you're suffering from. Give them 1000 miles to burn the gue out of the surface and they'll be better than your old 2's

Stu are you running DS2's or DS3's . Heard lots about the DS3's but not of the DS2's . Which unfortunately is the only type they come in for the V8S 15" rims only ask as I am thinking about giving them a try .
