Long life, Quiet, Fuel Saving Tyres?

Need some new tyres for the SAAB.

Size: 215/55/16

All I do in the car is go up and down the motorway every day. 80 miles each way.

So.....

I'd like something that doesn't make a horrendous amount of noise

As you can imagine my fuel bill is not small - if a tyre exists to reduce this then it would be good.

Oh and as i'm doing approx 45k per year i'd sooner change the tyres as few times as possible, so something that lasts well.

Is this too much to ask?

Of course - i'd also like to stop when asked to do so quickly.

If so - recommendation for tyres at this size for doing nothing too stressful in.

I found Michelin Energy Savers to be pretty good, overall.

I'm not sure that they actually save fuel to any significant degree, but they certainly last well, grip reasonably well, and don't make too much noise.

I'm pretty sure most tyres are a mix of all three, or try to be.
Long lasting tyres usually have harder rubber which means noisier ride.

Saying that GoodYear Efficiency grip are pretty good as are Continental ContactSport, 45k on rears 55k on fronts (so far!).

Michelin Energy are the best of the ones I've tried, and they last ages.

Get the mitchs. Missus golf went back. One of the rears had done 98k and still had 3mm left! No reason the other wouldn't have done the same if it hadn't got a unrepairable puncture.

Put thinner tyres on it, or buy smaller wheels and tyres

Hate to say it, but P6000's are going to win the long life test, I took off a set that were on my Mondeo because I didnt like that they'd been on there for so long. Must have been 20-25k on the fronts and they still werent down to the wear markers

i want something for my polo blue motion 185/60R15 seems they are really quite expensive for what they are between £60 and £70 fitted about double what i paid for rainsport 3's for my other polo

Another vote here for Michelin Energy tyres.

We're having to replace ours as they are 11 years old and showing signs of cracking - have done 43K mostly urban miles on them and they would've easily have seen 50K had we kept them.

Quiet and long lasting!

That my yearly mileage at the moment!

Was tempted by the Dunlop Bluemotion however they don't seem to wear so well.

I think its down to the Michelin Energy Savers or the Goodyear Efficiency Grip

I've been using Bridgestone Turanza T001 - lasting about 25000 miles on my 120d. They grip well, are quiet, wear pretty well, and the best part. In your size are only £280 a set of 4 if you shop around.

goodyear duragrip . brilliant tyre , comfortable , quiet, and durable. works as well as most snow tyres during winter and the best I've owned in the rain.

I'm running Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance on my BMW. They are very good tyres. They have zero sporting pretentions but they excel at pretty much everything else.

Jon-'s website suggested the current Michelin Energy Saver + cannot match the all round touring performance of the Goodyear.
