How to make the CD drive available in DOS?

If you truly want CD rom access in dos without windows you need to load the real mode drivers for it.
You need the microsoft cd rom redirector (mscdex.exe) loaded in the autoexec.bat and a device driver loaded in the config.sys(both of which are antiques).
Have a butcheres here :
