and the wife is starting to get an itchy right foot.

We're therefore looking to get a 2 seater convertible. My wife has a soft spot for Mk2 Z4's and I'm wanting to save some money and get a Mk3 MX5 instead. The budget is £6500 so there are a lot of MX5's but not so many Z4's that are good and have sensible miles.

It would be nice to get some views on the two different cars and especially regarding running costs and reliability. I would suspect the BMW could be a little more temperamental and with higher servicing and repair costs?

Any advice very much appreciated.

mk3 mr2?

With that sort of budget, the z4's available would be fairly high milage, but still good condition. Servicing costs almost same as the rest if you can find a good independent garage or even service it yourself thumbup

Plenty of well looked after z4's of the z4-forum and occasionally see some in your price range!

If its more for a weekend car, a z4 with 60-70k would be ideal as you won't be adding too many miles onto it.

We've had an MR2 and really liked it. Would like to try something different now.
