My 350i uses 7" lights. Vehicle wiring products or Rimmers do 2 types of bezel. One is 8" and the other 8.5". I measured the recess of my pod as being able to take the 8" but not the 8.5".

Got a spare plastic headlamp surround on garage bench. Will try and remember to measure tomorrow, despite copious quantities of red wine and stress over MOT retest at 9.00am tomorrow.

Now got a new problem with my lights, I got back to my car earlier and noticed that the pod had dropped a bit on one side. When I looked the bolt has come out completely on one side!
How do I get in to sort it out?

Assume you mean one of the pivot bolts?? to lift the lights put your hand under the car below the offending light, feel for hole. Put you hand into the hole and feel for the lift motor (big round thing! on the bottom centre should be the manual lift knob, if you rotate it it will lift / lower the pod for you. If the bolt is out support the light as it goes up. Once you have got it up and supported as the "actress said to the bishop".... remove the light by the 3 screws under the plastic surround held in by 2 self tappers. you can then see inside once the light is out. Hopefully said bolt will be in the pod refit with some copper grease and properly lock wire the bolt in as it was designed to be. Job done...

Remove the headlight- 4 screws holding the plastic mounting cup to the headlight pod. Be careful you don't drop the headlight!!

You then have full access.

DISCONNECT THE BATTERY before manually winding up the pods - just in case......

Early wedges pod motors are 'live' all the time, and they will attempt to wind the pods back down.
Can be painful on the fingers - been there !!
