PC games with realistic force feedback
Discussion
I just bought a Driving Force GT and after playing on it for about an hour I give up! I tried so hard to like GT6 that I even bought this stupid wheel but the force feedback feels fake and rubbish to me. I don't feel there's any advantage to it other than it finally gives you a linear throttle to work with not the non-linear throttle controller users are slowed down with.
Is there a game and wheel combo on the PC that will give me a car like feel from the steering and physics?
Thanks.

It took me ages to get it right, but I eventually dialled back the FFB on my DFP to the point where it feels just right for racing.
I gave up on drifting howver, as I couldn't get the lock on fast enough, and it felt like the motors and gears were straining.
I put it on 1 in GT6 almost straight away and it's better but still bad to me. As you said it's too slow to spin and you feel this un-natural resistance vary with the position of the wheel but not vary with the virtual front tyres position. I'll sell it and try a Thrustmaster TX with Assetto Corsa when it gets released.I gave up on drifting howver, as I couldn't get the lock on fast enough, and it felt like the motors and gears were straining.

Iracing seems good but it's expensive, looks dated, has no free demo and has no real variety.
I think you've been spoiled by Granturismo with it's 1000+ cars (that all feel the same) and polished graphics
..Give iRacing a go, it's only $6 (about £3.50) for one month, same price as an online movie rental but a lot better value! The learning curve is steep, but once you get your head around it and get past the usual frustrations, it feels like you are really driving.
The graphics are getting pretty good and the latest sounds are unrivalled. Since the graphics are not cutting-edge it runs great on older machines too. I'm not exactly a fanboy, it has lots of issues, but nothing else I've tried comes close.*
*Assetto Corsa feels great in the slower cars, but completely dead in the faster ones IMHO.
I've decided to sell the Driving Force GT seems I'm not alone in thinking it's bad. I've bought a T500RS to try with GT6 if it's not for me still (the game and/or wheel) I'll return the T500RS then buy a TX and Assetto Corsa. The TX I can use with the Xbox One and Forza when I get bored with Assetto Corsa. That's the plan but I'll see what the T500RS is like first.
