Hi guys,

Seen the usual 'fit it upside down' instructions, but as soon as I tighten the CG lock it stops the seat belt from moving through the tongue, so the tongue position can't be adjusted...

The double pass setup of the tongue means that there is only a small letterbox for the belt to pass through to start with, and the CG Lock clamp just exacerbates this to the point where the seat felt is not able to run freely, or if it does move - has to be strongly pulled through and will certainly fray the belt.

Feeling really disappointed with this lock, reading here people seem to rate it but frankly the fitment seems utter rubbish on the Chimaera setup...

Can anyone give any tips?

I had mine fitted to my VRs and it was perfect, a well engineered piece of kit.

I have read previously that the chim seatbelt is different somehow and that you have to fit them upside down or something.

Have a search and you may find the thread.

I designed a plate to reverse the problem with the double pass buckle. It's been a while but here's my instructions

Thanks guys.

Seen all the instructions, but due to the fact that the plastic part of the tongue you attach it to isn't flat but slightly angled, doing the clamp up moves the clamp into the letterbox opening the seatbelt runs through -pushing against the belt and preventing the belt from moving freely through the tongue.

The whole point about this is to allow adjustment of the belt within the tongue, but fixing the clamp securely to the tongue prevents this from happening.

Almost looks like I would have to grind the end of the clamp to allow free running of the belt - but obviously not going to do this. Just can't see how this clamping arrangement allows movement of the belt through the tongue...

???

I've got the two that I made in storage but there's many hours of trial and error invested in them so the value to me is quite high

Early days I worked with the UK importer to promote this lock. I haven't spoken to him since 2007 but I do recall he had one that was a simple conversion of the standard lock but was not bolted to the buckle. It just slid free on the chest strap, you pulled the strap tight and slid the lock down to the buckle like a one way slider and that resulted in the same lapstrap locking that you get with the standard unit.

I fitted my cg lock no problem. Reason for that is that I bought a new seatbelt on ebay two years ago and It was not angled like the original was, was really cheap too cool

Just buy a new seatbelt smile
