Saw this while out and about today. Been a long time since I have seen one on the road. Still such presence and a powerful icon. Am sure the drive is archaic by any standards when compared with modern day cars but this is still the one I would have over any of them.

They don't do anything for me at all. I'd rather drive a 430 or a 458.

I think they're fantastic. Archaic works for me rather than the modern over 'driver flattering' supercars.

Stunning cars, is the black splitter and black bumper surround an American thing? My knowledge of Ferraris is very limited but I haven't seen them on British f40's

Never been in one, no. I just think they look crap. A 458 pisses all over it as far as performance goes... so if you don't like the looks of an F40 or care about the history, whats so wrong with my statement? I don't think sitting in one is going to change my mind smile

They look crap? Why?

It's a performance Ferrari not a Ferrari built for dicking around in - performance wise? Not sure that 'a 458 pisses all over an F40'.

Haven't done a comparison but in pretty sure that a well driven F40 would be all over a 458.

Who said anything about sitting in one? I said have you driven one. Which you haven't.

Personal taste/preference however I know which one i would rather have at home and it isn't a 458.

The looks angle is just personal preference - I think it looks horrid in comparison to an lp-570 or a 458.

458 is significantly quicker to 60 and far more modern - I'd be surprised if the F40 is faster, either on real roads or around a track.

I'm not sure what driving one would tell me - a car nearly as old as me, that I already know I don't like the look of. Nice as an investment, but its just not for me personally to drive.

Looks wise, they've taken the rather lovely 288 GTO and stuck a silly rear spoiler and an OTT front deep bonnet extension/spoiler.

I'm sure they are great to drive and all that but they just look silly. I can see that they appeal to those that like spoilers/scoops etc. the Subaru Impreza of the supercar world in many ways.

It's of its time though, of an era of oversized shoulder pads and big hair! :biggrin

Still the definitive supercar IMHO, if my numbers ever come up it would be the very first thing I bought. Poke your Zonda, 458, mp12c etc etc, an F40 is the one for me.

Completely hideous. A genuine Ferrari that manages to look like and MR2 based Ferrari replica. Just don't get the F40, and never have.

Surely you have to understand that being the first car to crack 200mph and being the last Ferrari Enzo ever oversaw the production of have something to do with it?
