Hi,

What kind of tyre wear did you guys experiencing when tracking your 1M's?

I have around 3mm left on the inside of my rears (4.5mm on the outside) I am hoping these will see me through a whole day with some smooth driving at Donington, do you think this is realistic?

What pressure did you guys run?

Cheers,

Paul

Assuming you're still stock, what's the stock tyre?

Will depend entirly on how you drive. If you drive like you would on a Sunday morning hoon, around the corners, but trash it to the red line down every staight and break late into every corner, then they should last. However there is the ever present temptation to go sideways a little or, a lot, on track. Take it easy and your tires should be fine. Thrash it around a couple of corners and 3mm will be gone PDQ. But you knew that already.

Update: The tread depth on the rears was absolutly fine, I just struggled a bit with the fronts melting when it got hot in the afternoon.

Time for new tyres, any suggestions other than PSS?

Most 1M owners I know of (myself inclusive)or on the 1M section on 1addicts have swapped to PSS as there is a remarkable difference over the PS2's.

Pick up a set of 18's and fit with some track rubber for your track sessions.

I have done several days at Bedford Autodrome & have also experienced Spa. At Bedford I spend as much time out as possible & I average wear of about 0.25mm all round after each day.
The rears do very well, but it's always the fronts that overheat first. To combat this I always run 1.75 bar (approx. 25.5 psi) all round from cold. And I never have any loss of grip & don't need to adjust throughout the day.
I run the Michelin PSS, and I wouldn't consider anything else.

OP do some research into geo setups for your car, and how to get the best of the tyres, if your car is an occasional track drive thing obviously don't make it too extreme, research the effects and benefits of camber, toe etc, its really good to have a grasp on why your tyres are wearing the way they are, if you over heating certain sections of tyre for example, and how you can get the best from them.
