I'm thinking of buying a classic but I'm struggling to find something I really fancy.
Unfortunately the list of requirements is quite limiting.
I need an automatic, fast(ish) seating for 4 with a largish boot, under £20k (the more the better
) and "curb appeal".
I've just sold my 2005 xkr convertible (to new) and I've had cars like an ur quattro, integrale evo2 (both manual which isn't an option anymore) and a karmann ghia convertible (to small nowadays) and a TR7 convertible and Spitfire.
From that list you'll see I quite like "iconic" and "sporty" cars.
The only thing I really fancy is this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291078763259?_trksid=p20... but I'm a bit worried about controlling the torque through the hand controls I have to use now.

A good Citroen DS23 injection full auto would work, as would a semi auto (all works from column shift). A surprising turn of pace too. 20k isn't a massive budget for one though.
In your shoes I'd be looking at more modern stuff. For a coupe I'd look at the big BMW coupes, both early 6 and later 8 series. There are also lots of E28 M535i autos out there at less than 8k, they'll knock out over 250bhp easy peasy.

BMW, very nice cars but not "special enough" (yes, I know they are great cars)
Citroen, to left field and to expensive for a toy.
Jensen, not sure - maybe it's the big rear glass. Never been keen on that view.

Even though I need 4 seats, I don't need 4 doors as they're for the kids and my every day car has 4 so coupe is the direction I want to go.

Automatic BMWs are never going to be truly special I agree.
What is the nature of your disability? The charity I work with works with every kind of amputee you can imagine. Things have moved on a lot with respect to hand controls/manuals if you've got the cash and the patience to learn to tame them. Happy to put you in touch with some people if you think it'll help.
