On a recently purchased 07 a180cdi auto averaging around 34 mls to the gallon around town and approx 430mls on a full tank.

Is this about right or is there something wrong with the car or we can do to increase mpg

All advise would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Ah, the small economical diesel myth!
We had an 08 B Class 180cdi manual and that averaged about 40-42 mpg; fairly shameful given the claimed government figures.

I'm getting 45mpg on the motorway, 30 (heavy traffic)-45mpg (mild traffic) in town and get around 50-55mpg on a run to work early in the morning (20 miles of b road at a steady 40-60).

My wife has a clc 200 cdi that's only averaging 32 mpg. It's really disappointing so might look into getting it chipped?

I'm assuming it's an auto. My 220 Sport Coupe would drop to that sort of level around town, but soon recovered when it was on the open road.
