My BMW 325 cheap summer motoring!

A good friend of mine recently had this traded in PX

£1400 later and I now own this 2001 BMW 325Ci complete with a very good service history and a nice spec (heated leather seats, xenons etc).

it has a few minor issues, mainly a very worn drivers seat, parking sensors not working and the yellow oil light comes on for a few seconds after its been started. I'm not really a fan of the M3 replica wheels so these may get changed for some 17"s



If it turns out to be reliable I will repair all of the above issues in due course!.

What they said, your oil light will be the level sensor in the bottom of the sump.

I've never been into convertibles, but for £1400 that's a great summer hack!

Yellow oil light is telling you the oil level sensor has failed (or is faulty), and is a very common problem. From what I read before, I think its simply to warn you the oil level is low (there's a red warning light that appears when oil pressure is low). Just ignore it and use the dipstick I think you can code the car to disable the sensor (and yellow warning light) completely if it bothers you.

Thanks, I remembered reading something a few years ago about that yellow light I knew it was not a major concern. I was very lucky with the price, on eBay and other places they appear to be advertised for around £2500 ish.

Bargain! I think the wheels suit it. How are you finding the engine?

The engine is nice and smooth, not that bad on fuel, sounds good and goes ok. Its not got much low down power but i dont tend to drive fast anyway.

That's the kind of car a 17 year old would be pulled over constantly by the police... hard to believe it's only £1400!
