£100K Garage: Simon Coli

Of course there's a TVR in Simon's Fleet, as well as a Skyline and an 8 Series. And a Vauxhall Signum...

Name: Simon Coli
Previously owned: 1992 1.4 8v Ford Fiesta Freestyle, my first taste of automotive freedom, 1989 Fiat Uno 1.0 brown with brown interior (it was £350 with 35,000 original miles), 1977 Ford Fiesta with 1.6 Lancia Twin Cam in the rear, wide arched with cossie whale tail on the back; I was only 19 and this was in my eyes it was as close to a Group B rally car as I was ever going to get. 1985 Ford Capri L, just some retro cool. VW Lupo 1.4 16V sport, a sensible bit of fun commuter car. 1999 Integra Type T, the best car I've ever owned.
Currently owned: Joint owned 2009 1.3 Suzuki Swift, 1971 Fiat 500l....a very long term project.

Vauxhall Signum
Cost: £2,500
Balance: £97,500
Why I chose it: Well since I am in the position of 'having' £100,000 I might as well start with a sensible steed that can be used as a tow car, as this is about to get a bit messy...

 

Ariel Atom 3
Cost: £37,950
Balance: £59,550
Why I chose it: I cannot really think of any better tool to bring to a track day, with Honda reliability and a power to weight to scare most things with a tax disc, I think I'm onto a winner.

 

Skoda Fabia vRS
Cost: £3,295
Balance: £56,255
Why I chose it: For the sensible day to day mundane tasks, this car will bring much cheapness and a bit of fun.

 

Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R
Cost: £9,995
Balance: £46,260
Why I chose it: Do I really need to justify wanting something as brilliant as this?!

 

BMW 840CI
Cost: £11,450
Balance: £34,810
Why I chose it: Well having had a look at 'my' fleet there is a distinct lack of comfy GT cars, so a little bit of 90s chic goes a long way with this. Epically cool, I think it has aged well, and the need for a V8 in the garage has been filled.

 

TVR Tuscan
Cost: £15,500
Balance: £19,310
Why I chose it: The need for something dangerous and risky in the fleet has arisen so, all the way from Blackpool, the noise making rude boy of the north. I have always liked the TVR marque so this had to be in the Fleet.

Why bother having the vauxhall and the skoda? Surely the tow car could be the daily work horse as well to leave more funds available for the other cars?

I was going on the fact that i could fit the tool box and and set or two of tyres in the back of the signum plus i would imagine, having never had the "pleasure" the signum would be comfier. Everyone needs an estate, just mine wasn't going to be a bahnstorming one.

Use the £19k for repairs on the Skyline, TVR and BMW. At those prices, they're cheap for a reason.

Good range of cars - but as other people have suggested these cars are not likely to by the most reliable of their type, will they be less reliable than the Lancia & Ferrari garage last week?

If the Fabia VRS is a garage must, I'd use some of the surplus cash on upgrading to one of the run out LE models with leather in race blue.

That exact Tuscan appeared in about half of the lists in the original thread - usually marked "lairy, probably broken and likely to bankrupt you but LOOK AT THE PAINT"

I don't know why i'd spend 19 grand on a old fiat either but with my budget, i would.
When you drive them, they make you feel great, happy little cars, plus i'm going to need something reliable.....

Oh and good shout on the volvo, that would have done the trick, i actually have no idea why i didn't think T5/V5, i think i was thinking of something cheap to run with the skoda

The recent Lambo Huracan article has got me thinking of Green Theme to my garage!
£100k won’t get the Lambo but some pretty exciting stuff could be bought for that money.

Ultima GTR LS7 in Kawasaki Green (now Sold unfortunately but then again haven’t got the £100k to spend yet) £55,990 – The Top Gear Track Champion must be top of the list for bragging rights.

Focus RS mk2 Ultimate Green low mileage & RS Plate (2009) - £24,001 – I had the ST which just didn’t have power so this would definitely do the job (sensible hatchback with blistering performance)

Finally the Caterham 7 Supersport 225 (2000) Kawasaki Green - £22,995 – for a bit of wind in the face thrills.

I know this is a tad over the £100k budget but you have got to take into account a little haggling to make the man maths work.

Maybe a Nissan Stagea RS Four, basically a skyline estate. That means you don't need the skyline, so more money to blow on another car.
