Evening All

I was wondering if anyone actually knew the rules about bringing beer into the race circuit? Last year on the Sunday we loaded a backpack up and brought a crate of beers into the circuit from the campsite (Houx Annexe). Did we get away with this because it was a Sunday and they couldn't be bothered to check or because there is no rule against it?

Secondly, I know there have been rumours about bottles being banned on campsites but does anyone really know what the rules are on this as well?

From what I remember...

A couple of years ago they tried to ban beer on camp sites. The Local council put a stop to it as it would lose the town thousands of euros.

Beer is allowed on the campsites unless they try again!

Glass bottles however are not allowed to be taken into the circuit, because they get smashed. We took some cans from the UK just for taking into the circuit last year.

There is of course the issue of being on Maison Blanche were you are already inside the circuit! I have been stopped and had glass bottles confiscated at the entrance to MB when in my rucksac, But I have never been stopped with cans. I just took cans incase.

Hope this helps.

Cans fine, bottles lottery.

We've stuck with cans since. The beermountain is less cool, but at least we know where we stand..

Cans are hard to get hold of in France and often more expensive. We drink from glass bottles on the campsite and take cans into the circuit. On the plus side the cans are lighter too.

Never had a problem.

THE RULES - BECAUSE YOU ARE A BIG BOY - AND DON'T stE IN SOMEONE ELSES BACK YARD.

1/ BRING BEER

2/ DRINK BEER

3/ TAKE EMPTY GLASS BOTTLES AND PUT THEM IN A BIN WHEN YOU ARE DONE WITH THEM

4/ WHATEVER YOU DO - DO NOT DROP GLASS BOTTLE, OR THROW ON TRACK - OR OTHET 'S TYPE ACTS.

It is that simple.
Sadly - This is too complex for far too many people.

We drink bottles in circuit then put empties back in rucksack to build beer mountain in campsite. Not had a problem yet apart from the 'beergate' year! Sometimes get a good deal on cans on ferry but French supermarkets charge a fortune for them!

We switched to cans a couple of years ago and found them preferable to bottles. No accidental smashed glass around camp, less in-backpack leakage and they may also have cooled quicker (last one is marginal tbh).

Plenty of choice at Arnage Super U, no discernible price difference (that I remember anyway) and no hassle or faff trying to get them into the circuit - bags checked, no problem.

Our beer mountains were always very half-arsed in the first place (incidentally I still believe glue guns are cheating wink ) so we've not really lost anything.

We also take G&T (easy on the T) in camel packs wherever we go spin

I bloody love Le Mans.

I had two bottles of cheap French cider taken from my bag but two bottles of Vin Rouge were ok ? I won't chance the glass this year though, it will be cans (Strongbow purchased on the Ferry) and that cheap wine that is sold in plasic barrels.

+1. We just load cars up with crates of local pisswater "33 Export" glass stubbies from the supermarket as we drive into MB, then take them with us where we go. We don't have issues with smashed ones as we're a fairly tame bunch and wherever we go, we make sure to bin them respectfully.

Thinking back, it probably wasn't a good idea to GoPed (albeit slowly) from the back of MB all the way round to the entrance of TR whilst drinking bottles.

I know they looked in my car going into BJ, I have no idea what they were checking for, and they were the opposite of thorough.

Thanks guys, I'll stock up on some Cans for taking into the circuit then and leave the bottles for the campsite. I must admit in the few years i've been Le Mans i've not experienced issues taking bottles onto the campsite (Karting Nord & Houx Annexe) but was just unsure if there was a rule/limit on what you can take into the circuit.

Clock is ticking and i can't wait now, many thanks!
