RRS delivery date
Discussion
Pretty pissed off with a main dealer Milton Keynes..
Ordered in April a new RRS. At the order time a delivery was given of 31 July 2014 with a part exchange value.
£1000 deposit paid
Today I've been told my sales person has left the company and my order isn't placed with land rover and is in a "holding pool" and could be 3 months until it is in the LR system and then approx 3 months after that.
Without committing the best hope to see a car will be October
Is this about the norm.?

All orders for Sports go into a 'holding pool' as slots become available typically a couple of months before build. April order for July delivery is pushing it for a Sport - 7 months was the norm, and it's getting longer if anything.
If the system is the same as the US (I'm sure it is) there is an order call for each month and each dealer gets an allocation. Allocation is based on volume and inventory. The dealer then fills those slots with stock or customer orders. If he has more orders than slots the balance go into the holding pool and wait for his next allocation. Right now I have a couple of available slots for Sports for August delivery with changeable cars as place holders but for FFRR I have no availability until November and orders in the holding pool. When the customer orders we tell them exactly where they are in the scheme of things and if there is an open slot we confirm their order on the spot and give them a build sheet with a delivery date on it. LR have been delivering ahead of the scheduled delivery date, I have delivered cars already that were scheduled for May 20. If someone walks in today and wants a Sport I can give them a confirmed delivery date of August (build date July) and they will walk out with a build sheet and a big smile.unrepentant said:

Thank you. Very informative.A major difference between the UK and the USA is that you (and China) get the cars. It depends greatly on what model (engine) we are about (diesel v petrol) and the fact that LR have pushed back what was order-able on the MY14.5 car. Mine was ordered September/October and LR have said they will try to deliver as quickly as possible - possibly October. All Sports I have ordered (I've ordered four) have been 7 months at least to delivery.
I was offered an April delivery (7 months) but not what was ordered.
