Hi, its insurance time again. Just had my renewal from manning, they have quoted me £598. I have just done a go compare quote and they have come back with £209, that is with privilege. Is any body else on here insured with privilege. Its a hard one, I know the price difference is a lot but are you best stopping with a specialist. Will mannings really be that much better. Cheers

In the past I have had my daily insured with Privilege. No problems. They are part of Direct Line.

That's a flipping good price! All most too good to be true.

That was my thought, I have 9 points on my license since 2009 also.
I did a quote on compare and then on privilege, the price was around £20 difference. I get concerned when things are cheap

In my first year of ownership I could only get "standard insurance cover" from the likes of privilege as non of the specialist company's would cover me, Despite full no claims and 0 points! Had to cancel when the 4.3 went in though as they lost interest frown Depends what you need from your policy.

Perks of specialist insurance

:Guaranteed value?
:Right to buy back in the event of the worst?
:track day cover?
:modified?

I'm with Churchill, insured as a run-of-the-mill every day car. 12,000 miles per year, commute to work, kept on a driveway, £0 voluntary excess, protected no claims, legal protection etc etc & it's £304 for the year. For reference I live in the sticks but work in the city & I'm 32 with full no claims & 0 points...

I must mention Classic Line, been with them for years with various cars and they were by far the cheapest for me on my Tuscan. £600+ everywhere else i looked, called them up and £450 for the year, which includes full breakdown cover with homestart and being in my 20s thats a decent price wink

Henderson Taylor have quoted me £480, track day cover, agreed value etc. Track day cover doesn't fuss me either way, but the agreed value part is good. I assume other non specialists would try and give you book price on a pay out.

I went from ClassicLine to Privilege when I renewed a few months ago. Couldn't ignore the £200+ saving. It is also worth noting that Mannings, A-Plan etc are just specialist brokers and not actual insurers - even if you insure with a 'specialist' you are likely to end up insured by one of the mainstream insurance companies.

Having said that, if you have modifications or want to do track days etc, it may make sense to go through a specialist who understands such things.

im with admiral,200odd quid but I was thinking of manning for the assured value thing, I don't really know what the book price is? to see if its worth the extra premium? most online valuation things don't do tvr do they?
