So there I am, reversing out of my supermarket parking space intending to drive off to the left.

Fully observing all around, and aware there is extreme likelihood that vultures are hovering out of immediate view for the space about to become vacant.

To my left two vultures A & B, to my right another vulture C who sees the weakness in the approach of the vultures A & B as I am turning to head off in that direction. So vulture C drives up and positions ready to dive in the vacated spot.

Vultures A & B think, sod that for a game of soldiers and position themselves so that it is now impossible for me to go that way. Only way now is to the right thus foiling vulture C. Vulture C repositions so I cannot now go to the right.

Ah hah I think, I'm parked opposite a junction so if I reverse back into the junction I can sit and watch the fight. Only for vulture D to ignore my reversing lights and drive right up to the back bumper thus stopping any further reversing.

Nowhere to go................

so I stuffed it back in the space and went into the coffee shop for a drink and a perusal of the Thunderer. If looks could kill.......

Sorry to say, I used to play this game when out shopping with Mrs T. I`d either get bored or start putting unhealthy, expensive stuff in our trolley, so she`d send me off to play.

After getting bored (again) with the usual........
Putting stuff in other peoples trolleys
Taking stuff out of other peoples trolleys
Moving other peoples trolleys
etc etc etc

I would go to the car park, scoping for the "front door haunters", wait until someone had seen me walking towards my car and then just as they pull up waiting for the vacant space, open the car, get my smokes out and stroll off. Hours of fun.

I've never quite worked out how to signal that I am indeed getting back into my car but I'm not leaving just yet so you might as well move on and find another space. I just end up looking like I'm 'vogue-ing'.

What I find incredibly annoying are the utter lazy gits who drive around for 10 minutes looking for that one elusive parking space nearest the door.

Why oh why don't they just park in the empty part of the car park, and spend 45 seconds walking over?

Tesco where I am has 2 car parks, one right in front of the door and one just across from the door.

Adds an extra 15 seconds onto my journey time from the car to the door... when i get there I stand and look at the vultures scrapping for that one space! Sad!

A supermarket around here has pay/display. You get the fee refunded in the supermarket if you spend £10 ... .

To rub salt in the wound ... the manager mit the warped sense of humour (must be related to Steviebabes ) places the pay station about 45 seconds walk from the front door...

So... they cannot honour me with a decent parking policy... I cannot not honour them with my custom

Besides ... the other supermarket sells the same goods for less und do not charge for parking

Und ... I have ended up doing a FIF on odd occasions too...

Yesterday ... was my misfortune to have to go down to Manchester und parked up in multi-storey there .... has to be the naffest designed one ever ....tightest ramps up and down, und a very awkward pillar in the way as you came up to next storey. The pay stations (which you visit before you get into car and make your way back down these tight ramps - which are tighter hairpins than anything met on the Alps) were quite a walk from stairs und lift (which was not working und we were near the top ...which mit heavy pram was hardest work und I ache today!) as well. (It was that Arena one near the Victoria Station... anyone know it? I became a lost cat in the train station trying to get into town mit 4 year old und littlest kitten.

But even then ... scrapping over the space next to the door....und stairwells....

I park in the mother and child spaces on principle. I've seen mothers parking in the spaces designed for people without children, quid pro quo....

Und they usually palm off something which ist going off a bit as well.

I like to really shop und am very "continental" as I check the ripeness und the quality....

There ist nothing like going to greengrocer, farm shop, market, und even supermarket (where - do not tell the Mad Doc - but I "score" each time by getting chatted up over the car magazine racks where they stock such lovely piblications such as "Autocar, Classic Car, und so weiter )
