Opinions please. I want to buy one with the idea of keeping it for the next 10 years plus.
I want a Carrera 2 because they are more fun, and budget won't stretch to the facelifted cars so I will get a nice early one with proper history and whatnot of course.

Question is - would you go for plain and simple or get one with a (factory) bodykit?
Personally I think they look nicer with the kit, but the purist in me doesn't like a car to pretend its something it isn't.

Thoughts?

If its a keeper then it does not matter what others think what makes you happy.
I would go for the best possible low mileage best spec carrera2 money could buy and use it as a weekend fun car.

I'm not sure if this will help but...

I really, really prefer them with the kit on, but then I bought one without because it was the right car at the right price at the right time....

I suppose I'm saying it's fine to have a preference but the used car market will sway, bend and break that preference in the end anyway!!!

I prefer the 996 with aerokit and when I bought my car I waited for one with it.
I know others prefer the clean lines without the kit.
If it is going to be a keeper then buy what you want not what you think would be popular for a quick resale.

My own view is that they are trying too hard with the bodykit on, I subscribe to the view that the bodykits are for GT3s etc only.

But thats just me, get the one you'll get most enjoyment out of!

I wouldnt worry, a Carrera with or without an aero kit looks great, just down to peronsal choice really.

The only thing I think looks silly and could be considered to be "pretending" are standard Carrera's with decals/misbadged as GT3's, Turbo's etc.

I much prefer without the aerokit and I think the 'clean' ones will age more gracefully. Keep the ambers too!

The aero kit looks great, helps the car stand out. I think the 996 looks better with a rear spoiler

But be sure to check how well the side panels fit - on my 996 C4 there is an annoying gap and small stones can get trapped in there

I'm looking at a 996 (C4) with an aero kit tomorrow. It isn't badged as anything it's not. Hopefully it is as described when I get there!
