Hi

I just wondered if anyone could recommend a garage to have my Defender serviced at? I live between Preston & Lancaster so have Hunters LR at Brock nearby as a main dealer & Kentdale in Kendal also not too far. Would probably prefer to use an independent specialist so any suggestions appreciated.

Cheers

Phil

Kentdale have serviced my defender/s for the last 6/7 years,in fact the same technician has done mine each time.Ive always had good service from them and the labour rate is around £60 per hour. Some friends use Lakeland and speak highly of them.I am based on the Fylde coast so Brock is my nearest dealer but nobody I know uses them....

Thanks for the feedback, I live in Scorton near Garstang and hear of people taking their car to Kentdale rather than Brock LR, which is much nearer. I have not had the car long so not had a service yet, it is a 56 plate 90XS only done 7k miles, what does an "average" service cost & do Kentdale give a loan car? I bought my 911 from Porsche in Kendal and have it serviced there so feel an affinity with the area!

Thanks also for the recomendations for Independent LR in Preston, also heard good things.

Has anyone come across a place off the A6 near Garstang, LR trained owner who does a lot of LR work apparently? It is just past the Hunters Brock LR in Bilsborrow at Claughton, near Garstang and he used to work at Brock LR. Based where the recycling place used to be. Can't find a website though which may be a bad sign.

I've heard of the chap you are referring too-think its claughton garage?? Think his specialty is Discoveries though.Kentdale do a courtesy car foc and only a short walk to Porsche centre Kendal. You can call them for a service quote-I've always found them very helpful.

Here is some info kindly emailed to me by someone also in the area:

"1. For a quick oil service and MOT, John Kitching at Hornbys Garage, Claughton on Brock is brilliant - old school mechanic with years of experience. Limited availability there - he's a one/three man band and refuses to grow (thank goodness). Tel: 01995 640229
2. For the full Land Rover specialist stuff (and they've done all sorts for friends) then I go to Claughton Service Centre just outside Garstang. Tel: 01995 641107. Always lots of local FFRR's there, so that should tell you something. "

The comments were in relation to full fat servicing (am considering getting one) and not your question directly but hopefully helpful
