Picked up my new S2 at the beginning of the month, it's great but the ICE is terrible.

I've replaced the rubbish Eurotech speakers with JL Audios; I would recommend this to everyone.

I'm now trying to replace the Clarion Head unit with an Alpine unit however it needs a seperate power supply. According to Robert Collingridge's excellent site (www.elises.co.uk) there's a remote positive terminal under the dash (for ICE & Sat Nav equipment) however I'm not entirelly sure where; Does anyone know where the remote positive terminal is or has anyone done a similar change without using it?

Millsa,

While not being able to help out in any way as I am a complete ICE thickie, I would be grateful if you could post up any info of what you do to your S2 to improve the sound.

Why are the JL speakers beter than the Eurotch ones...and where would I get some?!

thanks
Night

Did you have the 2 or 4 speaker set up as standard? I've got the 2 speaker set up in my Racetech and whilst it's not brilliant, it's a lot better than the setup in my old S1!

I've got the Sports Tourer (4 speaker setup). I know the earlier S2 came with the Alpine speakers that seemed fairly good (when I took a test drive last year) however the current cars come with poor Eurotechs (front speakers better than the rear ones).

When I picked up my S2 I put some Faithless on & I couldn't listen to any of it without the speakers distorting badly.

After replacing the speakers the clarity of sound is vastly superior with a good range of bass to treble. I can hear the music all the time except when driving really hard; when you get to listen to the roar of the engine instead :-)

That makes sense as even with the 2 speaker set up they are OK ... and yep, they are the Alpine units.

Has anyone with a RaceTech tried fitting additional speakers in the front? I understand that the wiring loom is in place, but when I asked Lotus were talking silly money for the grills (which I think look a bit like a 1970 Capri fittings anyway).

I would like to fit an extra 2 - cos the soudn wtih the 2 speakers only is a little tinny...and wont have a hope against my tubi-style exhaust if I get it!

I really am not sure how best to go about it...all I know is that Lotus will be overpriced
