First time camping on Houx this year. Looks like we have a electric point in the middle of our block.

Is it simply a case of first come, first plug?

Would be nice not to have to use the genny so much if we dont have to.

Short answer, yes. But what many people do is bring multi-plug connectors, so ultimately the electric hookup points look like one of those instructional images of how not to have your wiring set up if you want to avoid a house fire!

Might be worth some Twin plug T adapters too and of course some long extension leads.

Ill be arriving on Tuesday but have a non numbered pitch. Hopefully I'll be able to stretch to reach an electric bollard. I'll bring a splitter with me just in case.

Depends! Different bollards have different connections.
To be sure, cater for each of these two possibilities!

If you can I'd hard wire your plug to your cable.

It's not unheard of for adaptors to go 'missing' during the weekend.

Awesome - I'm there too.

We can see if we can run the entire campsite on one long electrical chain!

The nearer the plug you get it's better to have a higher amp cable. A couple of years ago 27,000 people tried to run off one adaptor that had the sort of 5amp cable you have on a bed side lamp. To start with the socket end got extremely hot, eventually the cable resembled over cooked spaghetti and the socket slowly changed shape and started to smoke!

If you can, use the heavy duty 16 amp cable and adaptors nearer the original socket with an individual 13 amp cable going to each pitch, 5 amp isn't a good idea*
