Big brakes and 5 studs
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm back in a TVR after buying a 450 and I'm looking to upgrade the wheels and brakes.
I've a set of 16" RL7's from the Cerberas that I used for track days and fancy fitting them to the Chimaera. So, I need a 5 stud hub conversion, any suggestions as to a good source?
Secondly, I'm going to upgrade to the Ford 888 and 887 calipers to allow for 283mm discs. As I understand it the 4 stud standard fit 2WD Sierra Cosworth discs are the way forward. With the 5 stud hubs they clearly won't bolt on. Would the 5 stud Granada Cosworth discs have the correct PCD?
I have a feeling it'd be easier to get a nice set of wheels to fit the 4 stud hubs and just use the Sierra Cosworth Discs...
Thoughts welcome!

Ford 5 stud is not the right PCD.
We do these for 5 stud TVR's though...

In summary, it's possible to convert to 5 stud........but quite expensive. New hubs, new discs, calipers and pads, new wheels and tyres for the road and the track.
You could get some really nice 4stud wheels and have a fair amount of change to buy us all a beer

I already have the wheels, I'm going to buy bigger calipers and new discs anyway so drilling them to 5 stud is a minor thing. Also, I already need new tyres so really the only additional costs is the new hubs

That'll be our friend Hans, nice guy to deal with and I bought my conversion off him. As for discs I redrilled my 4 to 5 stud using bench drill.
That really is 'Great Escape' stuff
I'd only do it with proper kit using a rotary table, not sure most bench drills are stable enough to drill accurately or mount a cutter to chamfer the holes after?
By the time you've done all that though, you are quite probably capable of making your own ally bells

still find myself wishing at some stage everyday that I had a big milling machine

Astonishingly I've just received the second set of calipers that the breaker assured me were stamped 887/888, these too are wrong.
So far I have a set of 063/5 with the other side being 070/5 and another set marked 9HF on one side, the other being obscured.
Both sellers swore blind they were marked correctly.

Everyone that I have seen who talks about doing the Sierra Cosworth 887/888 calliper upgrade is on 4 stud wheels.
Someone will be along in a minute who will know if 889/890 is the 5 stud version of the same, or some random different calliper. I don't, it's just my numerical brain rabbitting on.....
