I had a look at the catalogue yesterday - a little disappointing compared to the last few years:http://www.classicandsportscar.com/news/classic-ca...

No 'star' such as the DB4GTZag Sanction car and the one off unusual bodied DB4 that have appeared in the last few years
Very little of (personal) interest in the non-car section
Not that much unusual stuff in the car or non-car sections
And quite a lot of 'seen it before' stuff in the non-car section (same signs keep appearing every year for instance)
It will still be a great day out, with the attendees' cars alone normally proving quite a spectacle and a great chance to catch up with friends but as I say, the catalogue itself looked a little boring compared to the last few years
Why is this DB5 restoration project estimated at £100k - http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21900/lot/232/
Yet this one is only up for £10k? http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21900/lot/239/

Maybe because the first one has got all of the bits (panels, interior, engine, gearbox etc) and some of the work has already been done. Whilst the second one is a rusty heap that has already been stripped of lots of parts (it's missing it's interior, engine/gearbox etc etc).Yet this one is only up for £10k? http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21900/lot/239/

First one has engine, etc.

The £100k one is being sold by the AMOC and has most of its bit's.
The other on looks as if it is just a chassis and wheels. No engine or gearbox
and will therefore never have the same originality (is that a word).
This car was bequeathed to the AMOC by a now deceased member. The other on looks as if it is just a chassis and wheels. No engine or gearbox
and will therefore never have the same originality (is that a word).
There has been a vigorous debate on that forum as to whether it should be sold "as is",or retained and restored and then kept by the Club.

Makes sense. I only looked at the pictures didn't read the description. Still wouldn't like to think what the restoration costs on either of them would be!The other on looks as if it is just a chassis and wheels. No engine or gearbox

Do you have a link to that debate? I couldn't find it via their search. There has been a vigorous debate on that forum as to whether it should be sold "as is",or retained and restored and then kept by the Club.
Still some great cars. I'll have the Virage with the manual gearbox, the twin screw Vantage, and the Mkiii drophead project.
The interstsing lot is the ver last car. A lot of people leave before then, the excitement of the zagato recreation will have passed, and you're left with a V8 which has non standard engine, interior and rear valence. But has had major expense so could be a really good buy as a useable Aston.

I think the general sentiment is that a few popular classic types i.e. DB MkIII/DB4/DB5/X-Pac V8's are doing very well and Owners are hanging on as prices are moving well in excess of interest rates and even so called "house-inflation".What seems to be left (bar a few lots) seems to be junk and the cost of auction + rennovation = sale value anyhow.
Market will peak soon.
This is definitely the lot for four people that I know:
