Looking at a car from Baker Brothers of Surrey. They have some pretty nice stock.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/dealer/6131...

All the number plates are hidden
The photos look to be taken at a house
Viewings by appointment, and been given a different address than on their website (the address ive been given looks like the photo location)

What steps can I do to protect myself if I purchase? The car is a good example, at an ok price. with manufacturers warrenty.

mods: pretty sure its not naming and shaming, as there is no shaming, just naming?

Looks like they are a home trader. I bought my car from one (admittedly it was a lot less expensive than these), and had no problems. The bloke had storage elsewhere, but did all the deals from his house.

1. Don't worry about the plates, they're high end cars, what's stopping someone forging the plates?
2. All of the photos for all the cars have been taken there, I wouldn't worry personally, but feel free to ring and ask them.
3.Viewings by appointment probably means that it's on private, locked grounds. The address listed might not be the business address.

Check if they're legit and ask if their VAT registered?

All of these can be answered by a phone call, or a visit.

V5 won't be in his name if he's a trader? Or am I being thick...

I've had very mixed experiences with home dealers. The one I bought my Leon from was absolutely outstanding, really went out of his way to be accommodating and even offered assistance with the Parrot system (which has a pretty peculiar set up) some 6 months after I bought the car.

The two other examples I saw at home dealers were either misdescribed or the dealer was not very accommodating about test drives etc. Some are good, some are bad- way of the world!

I bought my best car from home trader.

Mint house, lovely car, really sound bloke, transfer of money was done electronically with no risk and all was good.

Regret selling the car aswell frown

What have you gone for?

That 2007 Continental Flying Spur seems like a real bargain to me...
