Taking a risky plunge....woo hooo!!

My secondment was not approved so on Monday I've decided to take a risk and hand my notice in and take the temporary 1 year contract. Most people will say i'm mad,stupid etc etc. I want out of forensics for many reasons.

I have spoken today with who will be my new manager and she is happy i'm coming on-board and said many positive things that make me believe the contract will become permanent.

So thanks again to everyone who contributed to my application thread and then the interview thread. For the first time since being offered the job over a week ago I'm happy as feck...a little bit nervous...but happy.

It's a great role and vitally important...I probably spent five years in total doing control room and never got bored with it.

I've just handed in my notice....not got another job, am struggling to find one, and have about a fiver to my name! He who dares and all that...

Thanks for the good wishes Nick - it's not something I'd thought I'd ever do give a perm contract for a temp one - but the signs are it will be perm. Also if the worst happens and its not perm then I will go into a redeployment pool and they'll try get me something. If that did happen i'd pretty much turn my hand to anything. I won't lose my 18 years continuous service - this made my mind up.

I have genuinely lost interest in forensic science and I haven't been myself for a few years now because i have absolutely so job satisfaction what so ever. A complete change is now fast approaching and I cannot wait to get started - I will be a bit nervous but the signs are it'll be perm.

Why are you handing your notice in? Do you fancy a complete change?
