Here are my highlights from Donington Historic Festival last weekend - a fair few more than I usually post, but I was really chuffed with the set so it was harder to edit down! biggrin

My take away thoughts from the event; I'm getting a lot more use out of the fish-eye (15mm Sigma) than I expected - it has really earned its place in my camera bag, 3 days is too long to be shooting an event (my legs are still stiff!), and Donington is far more photogenic than I expected (except/despite the mess of the infield).

I like those Tim, and the rest on Flickr.

You found some of my favourite locations and a made a few work where I have never been that happy with the potential. Must try harder.

On a good day Donington can be very scenic. Especially with sunshine.

And you certainly need to be quite fit for 3 long Donington days.

If you want some more racing fun with the 15mm try the HSCC meeting at Cadwell Park - 21/22 June.

Also more historics at Brands both bank holiday weekends in May with the Masters and HSCC Superprix meets, both on the grand prix loop, where you can get closer to the track than at Donnington so should be good for the 15mm

great pics as well btw

Those are some great photos, should be proud of them. I went on the Sunday and here are a few of my iPhone snaps.

Apologies on the multiple posts, PH throws a fit if I tried any more than four photos in one post. smile

They are quite big files (the one in the post quoted above seems to be about 500kb) and the original size is larger than the forum likes so they get resized which two observations may to some extent explain why the number of images you can post is constrained.

Resizing here never helps image quality either so it is almost always better to do all of that and compress them before uploading.

People with slow connections and bandwidth constraints will thank you as well. wink

Nice shots OP. Bit disappointed with the festival this year, no Group C or Historic F2 thundering around, it felt like a club event in all honesty.

Some of my shots if you don't mind, not gotten round to sorting through them all yet..

Yes, frustrating how many times I have to wait for some picture-heavy threads on my paltry mobile bb because someone has uploaded full-size photos. And no matter how quickly you scroll down, you can never beat the browser as it catches up, inserts photos above your position and moves the page down.

Nice shots, though, all. Wish I'd gone now.

Superb set as always Tim. Your eye for capturing a moment most of us (including myself) completely miss or fail to see is spectacular

More than just cars....totally agree, It's all about the moment.. And you've captured it very well Tim. Again something I would have missed, even if I've gone out looking for it! :0(

Nice shot Phil and a great location but I do wish Donington would do something to disguise the Exhibition Hall slab to help us with that angle. Just painting some trees on the side would help! :|)

Yeah, that corner is great for the action but the backdrop is not pretty.

Thanks for positive comments guys. From the look of all your shots, it seems Donington has good public areas to shoot from (as well as having the open paddock and garages), good stuff!

I made a gif from the moment I saw this Cooper look up the inside on the approach to Coppice. Something told me things wouldn't be going his way hehe
