After a cheap dog car, up to around £2k. Hopefully something with a few mod cons, aircon, bit of poke etc.

Mainly been looking at estates, an obvious choice, as our dog is fairly large, but would consider a fun hatch or similar. So far I've spotted:

E39 520i is dog slow and still uses more or less as much fuel as some of the pokier options. There's a decent looking E39 528i manual saloon for 750 quid over on http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/ which will leave you enough to put a blanket on the back seat for FIDO and a years fuel/insurance.

You might have to register to look at the classifieds.

I've just sold this for £1,750....

3.2 diesel, quick, refined, comfortable, economical - just a little rust.

If you can find one I would look at a 406 v6. There's one local to me that I've had my eye on for a while for a similar purpose.
