I'm thinking about getting a couple of panels on my car wrapped in carbon fibre effect. When I come to sell the car I will probably take it off. I'm new to wrapping and have a few questions. I know most people who do this work assure you that there will be no damage but I wondered if anyone had any experiences?

Has anyone ever taken a wrap off? Any damage to the paint? Any scratches from the scalpel when it was applied?

Is it something I can take off myself?

Any recommendations from anyone who's had this done? I'm North Birmingham and am looking to wrap the side blades of an Audi R8.

Many thanks

Had my Galaxy bonnet professionally wrapped, made the mistake of unwrapping it myself and needed a respray. My advice would be don't touch it yourself!

Buy some real carbon panels.

They actually serve a purpose, can be replaced, and can be sold on after you're done with them.

I seem to remember seeing a thread where someone unwrapped something like a MINI and found it was utterly ruined underneath... Can't remember where that was though

The one that immediately sprung to mind was the GTR that got horribly hacked about.

Seen quite a few horror stories of a car being unwrapped to find it had caused damage underneath.

Carbon fibre effect panels sound nasty anyways.

Need to look into this myself soon. Current wrap has been on the car 4 years and I'm sure someone once told me that they were supposed to come off after 3, or maybe that they're only supposed to last that long.

If the paintwork is scratched to hell with a scalpel underneath then it's not like removing it yourself would make any difference I would've thought?
