Central Locking
Discussion
New problem hit today. Alarm is working, indicators flash as its engaged/disengaged but the central locking has stopped operating. There is no noise from any of the solenoids its completely dead. Fuse appears to be ok and I have done the battery disconnect and re connect whilst holding down the flipper....The flipper beeps three times once battery is re connected but only the alarm is working off the flipper not the central locking. Any ideas?
Check the courtesy light switches in the door sills (operate them manually with door open do the solenoids make a noise?) worth taking them out and making sure the contacts are clean as they do corrode/calcify over time + make sure you haven't lost the rubber pads on the door that connect with the switches.
Check you are getting power to the solenoids, check the solenoids too why you are there are they free moving ?
Engage the door lock button on top of door release do the locks operate ?
Check the central locking relay under the dash top left (large grey one i beleive)

Does the central locking work from the button on top of the door release?
If so, the relay should be fine and it could be an alarm problem.
If it doesn't work, then it could be a faulty central locking relay. You may be able to hit the top of the dashboard on the extreme passenger side to free it up if it's stuck. The relay's easy enough to change, but the thick end of £50-60 - not cheap for a "try it and see" fix.
If it's the alarm, then try Carl Baker (you can Google him) or get in touch with Abacus Alarms for a swap out replacement.
