annoying things about modern cars
Discussion
How about:
- Proprietary in car entertainment that can't easily be replaced and dates faster than the rest of the car (every car I've had, even the 1 or 2 year-old ones, have had faults with the headunit / ICE).
- Bland turbo 4-pots in lieu of NA sixes.
- Lack of a manual gearbox option on many.
- Jerky and dim-witted drive by wire throttles (I'm looking at you BMW).
- Run flat tyres / no spare / tyre gunk that's no good when the tyre's shredded.
- ESP systems that can't be turned off & general dumbing down including "safety understeer".
- Dealerships that don't know their arses from their elbows.
- DPFs, EGR valves & other emissions-related crap.

Fat a-pillars. I might be dreaming but they seem to grow with every new model.
They do.You're less likely to die if you roll it though, which is nice.
Ergonomics, since they invented that word they've not made a decent driving position in anything I've driven.

Having to dismantle the front of the car to access headlamp bulbs that require changing.
My Volvo C30 was excellent in this regard, you could get one of the front lighting clusters out within a minute - cracking piece of design.I have never had a car without a dipstick but I would be on tenterhooks all of the time if I did, for sure.

I think its probably because i passed my test in 75 when cars regularly broke down
and so have never had total faith in the restart.
Fair enough! I drive a 25 year old car as a daily and there are times when I'm way too scared to turn it off in traffic jams. Just in case...and so have never had total faith in the restart.
