Been to see the progress on my chassis refurb this morning. Looking Good! Another 10 days or so and we should be back on the road! New Nitrons and new clutch while it was all in pieces, plus battery moved to boot. Can't wait!!!!

Very nice. There is something very satisfying about seeing a car having this sort of overhaul beer. When i do chassis replacements on landrovers i always send the customers photos of the car at this stage of build smile

I know.... The vast majority of this good work cloud9 will not be seen when the car is back on the road but at least I know the chassis will now probably outlast me! eek

Not only will it possibly out live you but it will be one of the best out there simply because most other chassis are dirty rusting pieces of junk. That must be why so few have posted, can't cope with the truth.
I've done a home made job of the front end of mine with the body on, not easy but looking at your chassis I can see if I do the rear end the same way I will have covered about 75/80% never as good as what your doing but it's still a huge improvement on the nasty powder coated original.

Well done indeed. Now for my questions
Who's done the work, new out riggers etc.
have you lifted the body yourself and how long has it taken to complete.
Looking at the picture I realise I've done all the front of mine and the rear is very similar so I should have little to fear.
Diff removal looks a bugger but other than that.
Trouble is the more I look at your cracking rolling chassis the more I'm drawn to a body lift!
Post some more detail pics Pb450 to get me enthused.
I bet you can't wait to get it back together.

When it's brilliant white it looks the biz.
I've warmed to the white and when it's all new and clean does look really special!
It's also very obvious when a chip or crap appears on it!
Italian job any colour is better than rusty White.
Decisions decisions?

Looks the part, really good.

I will attack the underside of mine next winter, can't wait rolleyes

I've ordered a new set of tubular front wishbones which have a crank in the lower ones to accommodate wider wheels without scraping them.

Hi Peter, where from??

Im going for Satin black on my chassis, i agree they look nice in light colours but when the body goes back on you dont see it any more, and if you do look and see how dirty it gets do you have to clean it? I hate cleaning, prefer driving, cant even be bothered to clean the top of the car muchbiggrin

Hi Alun,
The work is being done by Taylor TVR and I must say, it's to a very high standard. So I haven't done it myself but all removals become so much easier once the body is off. Your work with the body on looks fantastic Alun. Well done!

The job started as the usual outrigger replacement. The body came off and the outriggers were better than expected. The problem was the rest of the powder coat, wich just blew off everywhere (!) with the application of a jet-washer. So the decision was taken (no decision really at that stage) for a fully chassis strip. After shot blasting the outrigger rear corners were still in good shape. However, the front corners had some small holes so these were cut off and replaced. The whole lot was shot blasted again, hot zinc sprayed (Metallisation) with two coats of sealer, 2 of primer and 2 polyurethane top coats. Should be good for 20 years or more!

I figured I'm only going to do this once and I intend to keep the car for the forseeable future so it was an easy decision to move forward with the work and forget about it in the future. Can't post pics from work but will do so from home when I get the chance.

Oh and yes, I CAN'T WAIT to have it back together again and back on the road. cloud9 Home run now, I've been very patient, kind of.....

Peter
