AJP oil filter unit
Discussion
Just doing some development bits on my 4.8 which I would like to transfer over to the Cerb block including the lubrication system and wondered why so many run without using the standard tvr oil filter unit on race engines as was originally intended? I have only seen a couple of these units and the inlet is blocked off so it cant use a filter, why choose not to use it? I'm guessing it provides better pressure without but if that is the case is the pressure really that poor with the filter? Cheers, Mike
Thanks for the reply Andy.I'm sorry but I guess I havent been too clear in my first post. I realise the tuscan AJP's use a filter unit attached to the pump but the one I have didnt use a filter inside and one pipe fitting into the pump is blanked off with a hose coming out of the end plate instead, I believe( I dont have the end plate). Is this normal? I have seen another like this as well so I wondered if they are run without filters for an improvement in pressure?
Thanks, Mike
Thanks, Mike
I think I realise whats happening now! Its a little different to the only other cannister type filter I have come across before( in an old Triumph)and having been told that some run without the filter I wondered if the backplate hose, which I unhelpfully dont have was only used when not running a filter but its a normal feature it would now appear. I'm trying to find out a few things so that I can decide whether to use a cerb pump or a tuscan one. Many thanks, Mike
