LED vs. Xenon systems?

Anyone here tried both systems, on BMW or other cars?
We're getting out first new car and for the BMW we're considering the LED's are optional (pricey!) but the Xenon is standard. We have always had traditional halogen headlights in our cars so any xenon system will be a big step up anyway, but I thought I should ask if we'll miss out on something without the LED system.
It will be combined with the "active headlights" system either way.

Had both xenon and LED (xenon on first gen MB CLS, LED on current version).
Xenons are good but...
... LEDs are just amazing. The colour of the light is so natural, the spread perfect and with intelligent lighting their ability to illuminate exactly what you need is outstanding.
LEDs are to Xenons as the Xenons were to old fashioned bulbs.
(but lasers are on their way which'll push LEDs back into the candle age)

The BMW will have Xenons with a white/yellow angel eye DRL as standard. As an option the LED will be a more blue light which IMO looks more prestige.
I stupidly didn't spec Xenons on our new car which was delivered last week.

Interesting video, but am I the only one foreseeing a few years down the line when cars fitted with adaptive lights like the BMW are on the second hand market and a headlight fails? The cost is going to be extortionate with that much computing power in them, yet another gadget that is going to result in cars being written off sooner.
Amazing technology nonetheless and I still applaud BMW/Audi et al for pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Got to be significantly less energy consumption than current filament bulbs also.

People were saying the same thing when adaptive headlights first came out. I haven't noticed a huge rush of people complaining about them failing. Tech is getting more and more reliable, even stuff that is pioneering. Amazing technology nonetheless and I still applaud BMW/Audi et al for pushing the boundaries of what's possible. The effect is more pronounced in real life than the video shows.
