My Projects and Car Buying Antics …….

Hi all. I've been meaning to do this for a long time. If you look at the cars I have owned in my profile you may get some idea of how serious my problem is!!!!
I've been a regular on PH of a little over 12 years now and regularly attend Sunday Services and meetings on & around the South Coast. Over the years I have got to know a few of the other 'builders' and 'serial project' members. Andygtt, GTRClive, Steve_D and Storer to name a few. Previous project highlights have included a couple of Ultima GTR's, a Tiger R6 race car and I am currently building my second Tiger SuperCat. I have also done a V8 Supercharged BMW 540 track car. I even set up a business called Southways Automotive along with a fellow PHer, Steve_D, working on kit cars, race cars, TVR's and many other one off's! I left the business a couple of years ago and returned to a 'proper job!' The business continues to go from strength to strength.
Lets start with an introduction to my current fleet…..
Daily Driver
A VW Transporter Kombi van. My third one of these. They just do everything I need from a daily vehicle. At times I still work on site installing Network Infrastructure so I need the practicality to justify it through my business. It tows well and can carry 5 in comfort. This is the Highline model so comes with a few creature comforts. I have added DAB, a rear Bulkhead and things like Cruise Control. I do 30k miles a year in this.
Weekender
A Cerbera 4.2. I had been looking at these for about 10-years but never took the plunge until now. I drove one very briefly and slowly for a short distance when working at the Southways and decided I had to have one. 2 1/2 years later I bought the Red Project car. Then in March this year I bought this blue one having realised the Project car was probably 3 years away from completion once started.
Current Project Build
A Tiger SuperCat kit car. My second one of this model. I built one of these as my first ever kit car in about 1997. This particular car has had no expense spared. Brand new Zetec 2.0L Blacktop. Weber Alpha Throttle Bodies and ECU. Professionally refurbished & reconditioned donor parts etc. More details to follow ……..
Current Track Day Project
A VX220 Turbo. Owned by me and a mate and currently going through a partial re-build following major oil consumption issues last time out a Donnington. Running quite a few trick bits it is very track focused and because of the issues we have had we decided the engine needed to come out. This then lead to a load more modifications and upgrades which are on-going. More details to follow ………
Project In Waiting
Another Cerbera 4.2 This car became available after a conversation with a fellow PHer and business contact. He had owned the car for about 10 years and just wasn't using it. So a sensible price was agreed and the car purchased with the intention of a full nut & bolt re-build. The plans include a full chassis refurb and powder coat. Re-spray including a colour change. Re-trim including a colour change. And the big one …… An LS2 engine swap!!!!
The wife has a Skoda Fabia an my teenage sons have a Renault Clio and another Fabia. Luckily we have a large drive so parking is not a big problem!!
I'll do further separate posts with more detail on each of the project cars and the Blue Cerbera. So watch this space as they say.
