Do I get 5.1 through my TV digital audio optical out?
Discussion
Have just hooked up my Sonos playbar sub and surround speakers
Sky, Xbox and blu-Ray go into TV via HDMIs, and then TV routes sound to Sonos playbar via an optical audio output (optical) cable.
TV is a 5 year old Sony kdl-46w4500.
So question if the sky or BR signal in 5.1 will that flow from TV to playbar ok?

The DIGITAL AUDIO (OPTICAL) OUT jack on Sony® televisions will only output digital sound when a broadcast with a digital audio signal (PCM or Dolby Digital® technology) is being received by the television tuner through the VHF/UHF or CABLE input. If the television broadcast does not contain a digital audio signal, then no sound will be heard through this connection. A secondary analog connection should be established to pass analog audio signals to an A/V stereo receiver.
IMPORTANT: Sound being input to the television through High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI®) connection or other inputs may not be output through the DIGITAL AUDIO (OPTICAL) OUT jack of select Sony Televisions. For model-specific information refer to the supplied operations manual. Manuals are available online through the Manuals link on this page.
Unfortunately the manual for your TV doesn't discuss the specifications for the optical connection so you'll need to test and see for yourself. If it doesn't support it, get yourself a breakout box, to pull the audio from the HDMI signal......

I did try a search, and even RTFM to no avail, the link you added just sends me to a Sony site saying consult my manual, which if have and it doesn't specify, so not sure how that helpsGoogle is a wonderful thing...
