Really disappointing.. they've been consistently the best price for 10 years for me, and with a bit of a negotiation at renewal time would always get close enough to any competitors to make it worth an extra £100 or so to stay with them...

So after 10 years I did my usual shop around at renewal time..

Tuscan Admiral £329 Other £207
A8 Admiral £472 Other £433
S2000 Admiral £570 Other £266
F-Type Admiral £850 Other £445

Total £2121 £1351

Nearly £700 gulf between the two!

I'd far rather stay with the existing bunch, as it's always a pain to move but there's no arguing with that really.

For the first time in 6 years, I've gone with another provider. Aviva proved to be the cheapest for me this year by about £80

Similar story here, I ended up leaving them as it was £300 cheaper elsewhere.

Multicar was much cheaper for me this year than standalone policies.

Mines a multicar... however the multicar discounts are pretty much non-existent... I think it was something like £5 off the Jag...

Going to be a ball ache but looks like I'll have to move.

Oh, I only found them last year and saved a healthy 4 figures - I shall take a closer look come renewal time.

They screw you on the multicar policy, after the first year its cheaper to get separate policies. In fact on my last renewal I put the car details through separately on gocompare and admiral ended up as the cheapest on individual policies. They mumbled about it being an introductory discount...

My advice, you could check them on gocompare, get the quote number if its cheaper then what they're asking and then call them and give them the gocompare quote number to look it up. Last time I was told they also had about £100 discretionary too, so make them use that.

Based on their reviews you'll wish you paid the extra if you have to claim.

Admiral seem very random - both my kids with them from 21, then at 25, and expecting a decent drop, they near doubled the premiums. Was offered a loyalty discount, but still miles out.

Was weird the way exactly the same thing happened for each of them - maybe their software tells them to cut and run after 4 years?

Alot of insurance is based on whether they actually want to cover you, depepnding on their claims, requote with them in a weeks time, results will probably be different. Car insurance has always been random sadly, no loyalty

Had three claims with admiral in that ten years, all resolved with minimal fuss. Last one was a bit of a ball ache but that was more due to these new fangled claims management companies.

Cant fault them... other than the price now.

I meant re Swiftcover - OK, people only post bad stuff, but their reviews are horrendous.

Sorry, my mistake!

It's 1st Central Insurance (who I'd never heard of) that have come up trumps with the prices.. they have some 4star rating thing on their website... tend not to pay too much attention to reviews, people generally on put stuff on those review sites if they've got an axe to grind.

Always been the cheapest for me to be honest

I did have to make a claim for a 50/50 accident when my Clio was written off I had paid £1800 for the car and got paid out £2,100 after sending in evidence of similar price cars, I was also given a courtesy car as well and to be honest I could not fault the process really it all seemed to go pretty smoothly so have stuck with them.

Currently pay £290 on my MINI with a lot of modifications declared aged 22 with 1 accident, 1yr NCB and 6 points cannot fault that price wise they wanted £700 for my Golf GTI which again was far better than anyone else.

I'm surprised to read these. For the first time ever I've not bothered to shop around or negotiate with them as the renewal was the same - £250 for the 3rd year running FCC on the Saab for both of us having business use also. A Plan did call me up but admitted they wouldn't even bother quoting when they heard that!

Normally insure with Elephant and get them to price match Admiral, done this for the last 5 years and then in May when I came to renew, Admiral and Elephant weren't even close so went with Hastings.

Admiral load the policy mega if you have a non fault or 50/50 accident.

Whereas if it's at fault, they increase it by £20-30

At 22yo, they are £400 for a TVR 350i, can't complain.

Makes sense to me... :/
Aha, two non fault claims in the last 12 months.

Also admiral want a full list of optional extras on cars, also they load the policy for a speed awareness course.

Looks like 4 x separate polices then.
