Broker or Ford Main Dealer ?

I'd like to buy a new Fiesta ST2 locally but the salesman in the local Ford dealership acted like he's doing me a favour at list price because the car is in such demand 
. I found the same car nearly £1.5k less at another showroom in the same group 120 miles away. Disillusioned I tried brokers and apparently I can get nearly £3k off list. So has anyone managed to negotiate a dealer down to near the broker price, or does my new car have to come from 100's of miles away at the mercy of a delivery driver ?

It's a UK supplied car, so unless you're getting exceptional service (which you won't from as it's a Ford dealer...) why pay more?

I used to have to deal with lease cars coming into my company. They always arrived on a truck. Sometimes from odd locations. A BMW coming to us in Newcastle was supplied by a Plymouth dealer. The guy hauled it up from Devon.
Once I had to deal with a transporte load, one of those double dockers of Volvo S 40s. The only driving they got was ff the back of the truck.

Wouldn't it be good to see the look on the salesman face if you could do this.
They broker the deal with the lowest price dealer in the UK, wherever that may be. My gran lives in Sunderland but her car came from the Manchester VW dealers.Wouldn't it be good to see the look on the salesman face if you could do this.

OP, don't buy locally assuming you will get good service if you run into problems. I bought a brand-new Focus ST-3 just over a year and a half ago from a local ford main dealer, had problems with it within the first couple of months (broke down twice, had to be recovered back to the dealers on the back of a lorry both times, had problems in between the breakdowns) and despite me spending over £25K with them several weeks earlier they couldn't give a s
